Biography

(American 1935)

Jim Dine, America pop artist, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1935. In 1962, Dine collaborated with other artists such as Warhol and Lichtenstein in an exhibit titled "New Painting of Common Objects," which is said to be one of the first pop art exhibitions. He was known for using his personal belongings in his early 1960s mixed media art; he then focused on drawings in the 1970s and sculpture in the 1980s. Dine is best known for his use of robes and hearts in his prints. He currently lives in New York and Vermont.
