Biography
British (1974)
Although artwork created by Banksy, be it in the form of an original work or multiple, fetches large sums and commands respect at major auction houses worldwide, his identity is a mystery. It is believed, however, that Banksy was born in 1974 in Bristol, England. A street artist, Banksy uses graffiti art and stenciling to create his public works on walls all over London and various other places in Europe. He began spray painting buildings in the late 1980s, and his career has escalated from there. His art represents his emotions on politics, ethics, and culture. Banksy recently released a film that he created and directed titled "Exit Through The Gift Shop." He currently lives in the UK.
