Biography

American (1933)

James Rosenquist was born in North Dakota in November of 1933. He attended Minneapolis School of Art, University of Minnesota, and Art Students League. From 1957-1960 before he joined the pop art movement, Rosenquist was a billboard. He is best known for using fragmented images and combining them on canvases to create stories. His international claim to fame was his room size painting of F-111. He is also known to have created the largest print in the world titled "Time Dust" that is 7 feet tall by 35 feet long. His art can be found in museums all over the world including the MoMA and the Smithsonian.
